Hair Transplant in the Scarred Scalp for Impoverished People - A Tribute to His Majesty the King Project


Abstract

A lot of people are now suffering from Scarring Alopecia that may causes by accidents, some diseases, burns or chemicals. The problem has significant effect on their confidence, sociability, relationship with friends, beloved and coworkers or even in some weather conditions. And new we have 'Follicular Unit Transplantation' that can help them solve the problem effectively.

As a tribute to His Majesty the King's 84th birthday anniversary in 2011 and our good intention to pay back to society, we purpose to help these impoverished patients, restore their hair and bring back the confidence. Also improve their quality of life.

Kongkiat Laorwong, MD and his team in Absolute Hair Clinic Phuket launch a project called “Hair Transplant in the Scarred Scalp for Impoverished People - A Tribute to His Majesty the King”. The project aim to provide treatments for 84 impoverished patients who have been suffering from the Scarring Alolecia (causing from some diseases, accidents, burns, chemicals, brain surgery, or scalp surgery including on those area like eyebrows, mustache, beard and harelip but not include those resulting from cosmetic surgery) with no expenses.

Objectives
  • To pay back to the society and help those patients who cannot help themselves.
  • To better patients' quality of life.
Project participants are those
  • With Scarring Alopecia problem (as mention above).
  • Male of Female.
  • Ages over 15 years old (Permission of parents is required for those ages lower than 20 years old).
  • Without any congenital disease or under the conditions that will trouble the hair transplant.
  • Cannot pay for themselves.
Operations
  • Cooperate with organisations agencies and companies that provide monetary support.
  • Spread the news to public.
  • Accept the application from patients and their qualification to determine if he/she is eligible to have hair transplant.
  • Examine the patients, do the screening and make an appointment.
Time
  • April 2009 – December 2011
